Kalamazoo FC Unveils New Home Jersey
Kalamazoo FC had its third annual open house this past Friday at SoccerZone in Oshtemo. In addition to a social hour, team announcements, tryouts and a chance to meet some players, attendees were able to see the unveiling of the new home kits.
For the first two years of the team, the home jersey was a solid teal design and trimmed in black. The jersey contains a new design similar to Italian power house professional team Juventus. The jersey is from Joma and has black and white strips with the Seeyle logo on the front. The right sleeve has Kia and Ford company logos. On the back, the SoccerZone logo is displayed across the bottom with the name and number of each player in teal.
“The design aspect of the jersey for the team was a real challenge,” said team owner Mike Garrett. “We wanted to have a quality jersey in terms of design, utilize a bit of a classic European professional look and of course showcase our sponsors effectively. A long process, but the jerseys turned out great!”
Team players Spencer MacDonald and Jordan Veillette modeled the jerseys for fans during the event. They were joined stage side by “Cleats”, the teams eagle mascot. (Put that photo in of guys with cleats on stage) “Love the new jersey and I am very excited about the upcoming season,” said MacDonald. “Feedback from fans tonight on the kit has been great,” he said.
In soccer, fans traditionally buy the team jersey and team scarf as a part of showing their support and wearing the team colors. The team had made a two-year commitment to the first jersey and the team expects this jersey to be in place for two years also.
Head Coach Brian Clements said, “Love the new jersey and the way the team is shaping up. Looking forward to having our team in front of our fans in this new kit in May!”
Kalamazoo FC is excited about the change in uniform. The team will make its debut in the new uniforms on May 6th where they will host the Michigan All-Stars. Jerseys are available online and at the Kalamazoo FC store located in SoccerZone on Sprinkle Rd.
