Coach Clements on Lawan. “Excellent in front of goal, great final ball in the box, powerful, excellent feet for a tall player. True goal scorer!”

2 Questions Q/A

Q – What has your soccer playing history been like?

A –  I started playing soccer when I was 6 years old in my hometown, Niamey. I grew up playing soccer on the street of my neighborhood with my friends and I enjoyed it a lot and still wanted to play if I got a chance.  That is where I learned to play soccer. When I was 12 I joined a youth soccer academy called Kandadji FC, where I learned self-discipline, social skills, and qualities like teamwork. I played there for 3 years, then I joined my high school team where I played at a high level. After high school, I got the opportunity to come study and play soccer in the United States at Western Nebraska Community College and recently signed for Colorado Mesa University to continue my education and keep playing Soccer.

Q – How would you describe your playing style?

A – I consider myself as a fast player. My speed is usually the first thing people remark while I am playing. I like teamwork such as going forward and defending as a team because working together is what make a team be successful. I also like challenging defenders in one vs one and receiving good passes in the air. If I am alone, I try use my strengths to hold the ball which will allow the team to join me in attack. Finally, as every forward, I like scoring goals and winning the games for my team. With the help of my teammates we win the games because a striker is only as good as the support he receives from his teammates.
