KZFC Signs Two Davenport Players

Carson Brinks

Kalamazoo FC is proud to announce the signing of junior standout defender from Davenport University Carson Brinks for the 2018 NPSL season.

Carson played and started in 19 matches on defense and was only one of four players on the team to achieve that accomplishment. Brinks also tallied 5 assists on the season as well as 21 shots with 9 coming on goal. He was second on the team with a total 1,754 minutes played in his junior campaign. Carson was named to the Honorable Mention All-GLICA as well as the CoSIDA Academic All-District team.

Carson attended Unity Christian High School in Hudsonville, Michigan where he was named Second Team All-State as a senior and played on two state championship teams.

Q – What’s your off-season been like?

A – The offseason for me consists of of studying at Davenport university for a Nursing degree.

Q – What are you most looking forward to in joining Kalamazoo FC?

A – The atmosphere of the club, stepping on the field with these teammates, in front of the fans and playing for Kalamazoo is what I am looking forward to the most

Yovany Duran

Kalamazoo FC is also proud to announce the signing of Yovany Duran a Sophomore midfielder also from Davenport will also be playing his first year with Kalamazoo FC.

Yovany started and played in all 19 matches at midfield for Davenport in his Sophomore season. Yovany was one of just four players on the team to accomplish that feat. He had 28 shots with 11 coming on goal and scored 3 teams with 2 assists. He scored 2 of goals in one game against Tiffin and his 11 shots on goal ranked fourth on the team.

Yovany played high school soccer at AIU High School in Wyoming, Michigan. His senior year he netted 25 goals and was named to the Third Team All-State team his senior year and Honorable Mention as a junior.

Q – What’s your off-season been like?

A – Off-season to me is when all the hard work is put in, and my off season has been constant work at the gym and on the treadmill trying to keep my fitness as high as I can.

Q – What are you most looking forward to in joining Kalamazoo FC?

A – As for Kalamazoo I have played soccer in many different parts of Grand Rapids along with playing a couple years in Mexico and getting the opportunity to expand and show the city of Kalamazoo what I can do to help the team out is one of the reasons for trying out for KZFC. i look forward to making new friends, new brothers, and celebrating many wins with the fans!
